You Don't Want What You Deserve

Girls, we have been diving deep into scripture these past couples of months. I hope you are learning and enjoying digging deep into God’s Word and learning Truth from his word as much as I am. As Christ-followers, we want the Truth.

Jesus says in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Bask in this, daughters. He is setting us free to be the people He created us to be and live as He created us to live as we learn the truth and apply it to our lives. Let’s jump in!

“It (love) does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth.”

1 Corinthians 13:6

Does this sound familiar? They got what they deserved. Before we go any further, let’s talk about what we ALL deserve.

Girls, according to Romans 3:10, which quotes Psalms 14:1-3, “No one is righteous - not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” Further, Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. That’s the bad news, girls, but thankfully God did not stop there.

Here is our glorious hope! Romans 3:23-26 says, “Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty of sins. For God presented Jesus as a sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”

Friend, do you see that we ALL deserve Hell and death and separation from God so we rejoice when anyone regardless of their past sin as horrific as it may be in our eyes comes to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is the truth winning out. Did you know that Luke 15:10 says, “The angels in heaven rejoice every time a sinner repents and becomes saved.”

Girls, the next time you want someone to get what you think they deserve. Remember what you deserve. Romans 5:1 tells us that, “Therefore since we have been made right with God through faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” Girls, do you see that It’s only through Jesus’s blood and sacrifice that you can have peace with God and that you don’t get what you deserve? That’s the Truth! Let’s rejoice in that!
