Dates with Jesus: Month 3, Sharing God's Word

July 21, 2017

Our "Dates with Jesus" Series is a tool to help you pursue the One who pursues you!  <3

A little over a month ago, I was at Starbucks starting off my morning with a cup of coffee and myBible reading. Whenever I go to a coffee shop to study The Word, I always feel like I’m in my own little world and, being an introvert, this is just one reason why I love reading at coffeeshops. I can be surrounded by a shop full of people but the minute I open my Bible, the atmosphere around me changes, the voices of the customers tune out as I turn on some worship music and, suddenly, it feels like The Lord and I are the only ones in the whole place. But on this particular day, I decided to leave my headphones in my backpack and read my Bible with open ears. And I’m so glad that I did.

A man was waiting for his latte at the end of the bar and he saw me reading. He came up to me and, out of curiosity, asked me what I was studying. When I told him I was studying Psalm 18, he asked me to read a few verses to him; I smiled and gladly took him up on this offer.

Psalm 18:1-2

1 I love you, Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield [b] and the horn [c] of my salvation, my stronghold.

The man walked out the door smiling-and I don’t think it was because of the coffee he was about to enjoy. I doubt that man ordered some Jesus in his coffee at the register, but I guarantee you that he remembered the encounter he had every time he saw his Starbucks cup that day. The Word of God is alive and it makes us come to life when we read it. I don’t know the man that I met that day, but I know that The Lord touched his heart that morning.

My challenge for you girls is to be bold when it comes to sharing Jesus with people. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and talk to people about Him. There is no greater feeling in the world than to be used by God to impact someones life.
