Testify Girl

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Testify Girl!

Hello Dear Girls, today I want to share with you about what it means to testify so you can Testify Girl! According to Merriam Webster, to “testify” is to serve as evidence or proof, to express a personal conviction, to make a statement based on personal knowledge or belief or bear witness.

Girls, we are all called to testify, which simply means to share who God is and what God is doing in our lives; this is both with our mouth and how we live our lives!

So why do we testify and how do we testify? According to God’s Word, we testify for many reasons. We testify to encourage and sharpen one another. When iron blades are rubbed together, each becomes sharper and thus more effective. Likewise, when believers are involved in one another's lives, mutual edification occurs.

“As iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

We testify to offer comfort to others. As we share how God has comforted us, we are then able to comfort others and to remind them that they aren’t alone.

“God is our merciful Father, and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Girls, another reason we testify is because when we testify and share what God is doing in our lives, we triumph over the enemy.

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11

“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel, but our very lives as well.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Girls, when we share the story of what God is doing in our life, what He’s teaching us even in our struggles and hard times, in Christ, we are more than overcomers. We build each other up and our faith grows as we see God at work in other’s lives. We learn we’re not alone and we are given the opportunity to comfort others as Christ comforts us. The enemy wants to keep us quiet. Dear girls, you have a voice. You have a story. The worst thing we can do is be silent. I want you to know you can testify!

Here’s a quote that I love and can completely relate to from GL4G founder Dechari Cole:

“You’re not shy. It just took a minute to find your God-given voice.”

Girls, the last and most important reason I believe that we testify is when we share about God, we bring Him the honor, praise, and glory that He is due. Oh girls, if we could for a moment grasp His unfathomable grace, His boundless love and mercy towards us, Jesus’s ultimate sacrifice so that we could know God, our perfect Father, have abundant life now, and live with Him in the most incredible place beyond our wildest dreams called heaven one day, then I truly believe we would be asking Him every day, “Lord how can I make your name great today? How can I testify to You today?” Let’s not let the rocks cry out girls, let’s testify to our Great, Mighty, Sovereign King every day!

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10

But Jesus answered, “I tell you if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” Luke 19:40

I hope this encourages you to testify, Sweet Girls, God will show you your God-given voice and how to testify right now! Just remember, “Don’t shine so that others can see you. Shine so that through you others can see Him.” (C.S. Lewis)

When we testify we shine and reflect Jesus, our King! This week remember you have a voice, you have a story, and you can testify to an extraordinary God! Don’t be silent! Testify, girl!

Reflection

  1. How can you testify to your friends and family this week? I would encourage you to take some time and think and pray about this and ask Him to lead you to people this week who you can share with.

  1. What is God doing in your life right now? Take some time, write this down, record it on your phone if you don’t journal. Ask Him to show you what He’s doing in your life right now and for an opportunity to share this with others.

  1. How have you seen Him faithful in the past? Girls, I’d encourage you to take some time to think about and possibly write down how you have seen God be faithful this past year so that when you have the opportunity you can share His faithfulness.
