Permission to Hope

Hope.

Girls, who doesn’t need hope right now? We all do! Guess what, if you are God’s child, you have the hope that the world desperately longs for. I’m so very thankful that God gives us a hope that does not disappoint! Romans 5:5 says, “Now hope does not disappoint, because that love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Girls, we can hope for all things because we have Jesus, the Hope of the World, living inside us through the Holy Spirit! Bask in that, let it sink in. Spend some time thanking God that He has given us this strong, steady hope, the anchor for our souls. Hebrews 6:19 says, “We have this hope as the anchor for the soul, strong and secure.”

“Love bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:7)

Girls, so let’s get practical here, how do we hope all things?

I love what the Enduring Word commentary says, “Love has confidence in the future, not pessimism. When hurt, it does not say, “It will be this way forever, and even get worse.” It hopes for the best, and it hopes in God.”

Did you see that? “It hopes for the best and it hopes in God?” I love that because it is true but it is not what many of us are told.

We are actually told the opposite. We have such a culture of negative, pessimistic thinking.

Girls, yes the world may be evil, but we are not of this world. The Bible tells us that we are in but not of this world.

Furthermore, we are foreigners or strangers just passing through. Hebrews 13:14 says, “This world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.” The late BIlly Graham said, “The Bible says this world is not our final home, and we are strangers and pilgrims on the Earth. Our true home is in heaven. And that is where God’s life leads.”

Girls, this world is NOT our home. God is preparing a place for us where there will be no more sadness, sickness, pain, or suffering. Jesus said in John 14:2, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Further, we are told in Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Did you hear that? All evil, sadness, sin, suffering gone forever? Breathe this truth in, let it sink in and fill you with hope that is inexpressible and unshakeable.

Girls, if we put our hope in this world then we will lose hope, but if we put our hope in Jesus we will never lose hope. NEVER EVER.

Dear ones, don’t just talk about this hope, but LIVE with this hope! “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 4:20) LIVE by God’s power!
